So THAT’S what it is/was. I think Sandy Duncan did a Cricket commercial at some point, but I couldn’t find it.

Theres a guy locally here in WV that has one of those in fair+ good- condition with only 60K on the clock. Its yellow and a 4 speed. owned by an elderly lady and driven 2 times a week to the store and church. No joke. the paint is toast from being outside its whole life or it would be mint. no rust.

My mother bought one as her first new car. It was apparently an utterly unmitigated piece of junk and was traded in as soon as possible.

They can’t have been all that reliable.

That’s a time capsule I’d like to see.

I think all the Matra talk made me remember this car.

Dunno about the Plymouth, but the Hillman wasn’t a bad car, in the early 1970s UK context. Somewhere between Cortina and Escort in both size and behaviour.

I had one for a year or so when I was a teenager. 1500GT: twin carbs and 75hp of raw power! As I recall it was pretty tailhappy under braking, which at the time I thought was a good thing - I really don’t know how I survived my teenage years.

You’re invited to WV’s largest auto show! That’s where I saw him last year. http://charlestonwvcarshow.com/

I can’t argue - never drove one, but saw a few sitting on a dealer’s lot.

I wonder how many people who intended to buy one of these were upsold to a Duster, and how few regretted that change of plans.
